We drove a good 75 miles out of our way to get here but we needed beer. 17 miles of washboard dirt road to 550 then north to... whatever then down 371 which has the longest stretch of perfectly straight road I've ever seen and is surrounded by nothing of interest. Never the less, we got there and we had beer.

There's no place on earth like the Bisti Badlands... Well, there probably is but I haven't been there yet. Bisti is a relatively small area of maybe 100 acres (I'm guessing) surrounded by miles and miles of almost nothing. You won't even find it on most maps. Anyway, the terrain as you can see, is like another planet and there's not a spot of shade in sight. We had to make our own shade by bungy cording a tarp between our cars. Also, the only sign of life I saw most of the day was my brother, a few bugs and my new buddy "Frank" the lizard (below).

We have beer, food and shade... what else could we need?
