This picture is from my first Jeep trip...First stop after I got off the paved road (87) was to put the top down. It was a beautiful morning in the 70s. Four Peaks is upper left....
A rock formation on the way up...
I have a lot of shots of the Jeep looking good. The road up was not bad at all with only about 7 miles that required 4 wheel drive. A lot of these roads are maintained by the forestry department in case of fires...
Four Peaks from the north side and the Jeep of course.
This was the only sign along the way. It was at the very crest. I was here by a little after 10:00 am. The rest was down hill to the lake.
Theodore Roosevelt Lake (in the distance) the road ahead and the road behind.
The road down the other side was very well maintained and pretty smooth. I pretty much just coasted down to Highway 188.
Here's a map of the route (blue line). Four Peaks (el. 7657 ft.) is northeast of Apache Junction, which is east of Phoenix. I took route 88 back which is mostly a dirt road and the family and I have driven it before.

It was a hot ride home so I think I will plan other trips when the weather is cooler.

OLD stuff....
